Corn
Hybrid Polymer Coating Removal on Delicate Substrates Meeting and Teleconference SummariesThe Meeting and Teleconference Summaries contains basic information about this project and a summary paragraph from each meeting or teleconference held for this project.
Milestones and Prior Decisions: Technical representatives determined that further evaluation was required to ensure corn-based media meets acceptance criteria for NAVAIR and Air Force radomes and other delicate substrate components. A three phase approach will include:
Date of last meeting:
23-25 October 2006 Meeting and Teleconference Summaries: On 23-25 October 2006, a full scale demonstration/validation was conducted at Naval Station Mayport, FL to evaluate corn hybrid polymer coating removal process on delicate substrates. NDCEE coordinated with all DoD services and NASA to conduct this evaluation to include as many substrates as possible. Results were favorable and can be found in the Final Interim report for Evaluation of Corn Based Blasting Coating Removal from Delicate Substrates at NS Mayport, FL., Simmons Army Airfield, and Robins AFB dated 19 July 2007l. Contact Dr. Sirchio or Mr. Thomas for a copy of this report. On 22-24 August 2006, a demonstration was conducted at Fort Rucker, in coordination with AMCOM and RDECOM, to evaluate corn hybrid polymer coating removal process on helicopter components. NDCEE coordinated with Fort Rucker Aviation Center Logistics Command (ACLC), the U.S. Army AMCOM, the U.S. Army RDECOM, CCAD, and Helispec, Inc. Results can be found in the Final Interim Report dated 8 November 2006. Contact Dr. Sirchio or Mr. Thomas for a copy of this report. On 21-22 March 2006, a demonstration was conducted at NSB Kings Bay, GA to evaluate corn hybrid polymer coating removal process on submarine components. NDCEE coordinated with NSB Kings Bay - TRF, as well as Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the CHP manufacturer, and Midvale Environmental Technologies. Results of the demonstration can be found in the final interim report dated 6 June 2006. Contact Dr. Sirchio or Mr. Thomas for a copy of this report. On 14-15 February 2006, a Proof-of-Concept evaluation was conducted at Naval Air Station Mayport to evaluate corn hybrid polymer coating removal process on delicate substrate components. NDCEE coordinated with all DoD services and NASA to conduct this evaluation to include as many substrates as possible. Results of the demonstration can be found in the Final interim report dated 8 May 2006. Contact Dr. Sirchio or Mr. Thomas for a copy of this report. On 19 October 2005, a kick-off teleconference was held between NDCEE, DoD Services an NASA to discuss the technical approach for this project effort. |
