On December 4 and 5, 2000, the second technical meeting was held at the Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo, California, for the stakeholders in the HCAT/JG-PP Actuator project. The main emphasis of this meeting was to hone the wording of the Draft JTP on the Validation of WC/Co and WC/CoCr HVOF Thermal Spray Coatings as a Replacement for Hard Chrome Plating on Hydraulic/Pneumatic Actuators. Mr. Warren Assink began at 1:00 P.M. with welcoming remarks and an overview of the JG-PP. He then introduced Mr. Bruce Sartwell, HCAT Lead, who briefed the HCAT overview; Mr. Shane Arthur, Praxair Sales Engineer, briefed Praxair Surface Technologies, Mr. Lou Smith, DCMA, spoke about the current and incoming environmental regulations concerning chrome plating; and Mr. Elwin Jang, National Technical Systems, who briefed the methodology followed in creating the Draft JTP. Prior to beginning discussions on the Draft JTP, Mr. Assink suggested that all players keep in mind what were their requirements as stakeholders for the demonstration/validation of HVOF coatings. Mr. Sartwell then lead the group through the suggested changes of the wording in the Draft JTP.
