Surface Finish and Low-VOC
Conformal Coating (CCAMTF) Meeting and Teleconference Summaries The Meeting and Teleconference Summaries contains basic information about this project and a summary paragraph from each meeting or teleconference held for this project. Potential Programs/Owners:
Material(s) Targeted for Reduction/Elimination: Lead as found in tin-lead surface finishes and VOCs, specifically xylene, toluene, naptha, lacquer thinner, and isopropyl alcohol as found in current conformal coating processes.
Milestones and Prior Decisions:
Date of last meeting/teleconference:
November 13, 2002 Meeting and Teleconference Summaries: On November 13th, 2002 technical stakeholders participated in a face to face meeting to review, discuss, and finalize the JTR summarizing the CCAMTF's efforts to qualify lead-free surface finishes and low-VOC conformal coatings. On October 22, 2002, technical stakeholders participated in a teleconference to review, discuss, and finalize the JTR summarizing the CCAMTF efforts to qualify lead-free surface finishes and low-VOC conformal coatings. On September 13, 2000, a meeting of JG-PP CCAMTF peers was held via teleconference. The primary objective of the teleconference was for project stakeholders to provide final comments on action item CCAMTF.00.07.04, and collectively decide whether the mechanical shock test procedure in the JTP should be modified. On July 18, 2000, a meeting of JG-PP CCAMTF peers was held via teleconference. The primary objective of the teleconference was to update project stakeholders and JASPPA on the status of the CCAMTF testing. On February 17, 2000, a meeting of JG-PP CCAMTF peers was held via teleconference. The primary objective of the teleconference was to update project stakeholders and JASPPA on the status of the CCAMTF testing. On November 17, 1999, a meeting of JG-PP CCAMTF peers was held via teleconference. The objective of the teleconference was to review the latest test results (from the Branch Water test) compiled by STC and to discuss the next steps in the joint testing program. On May 4, 1999, a meeting of JG-PP CCAMTF peers was held via teleconference as a follow-on discussion to the CCAMTF meeting in Lewisville, Texas on April 8-9, 1999. The objective of the teleconference was to review Raytheon's progress on troubleshooting the Branch Water Test and discuss comments on all test results to date. On April 8-9, 1999, technical representatives from the CCAMTF and JASPPA met to review and comment on the test data collected to date and the initial interpretations of the data presented by Raytheon Systems Company and STC. In addition, the group discussed the infrastructure for a possible future circuit card project. On 2 July 1998, representatives from the U.S. AFRL and ASC (ASC) met with representatives of the CCAMTF and the JPPAB. The objective of this meeting was to review and resolve AFRL issues concerning the CCAMTF JTP, dated March 11, 1998, such that F-16 SPO endorsement of the JTP could be obtained. Action items were taken for AFRL to suggest alternative wording for the JG-APP signature letter for the JTP, and to provide a list of requirements for a future circuit card JTP. On March 19, 1998, business representatives from F-16, JSOW, LANTIRN, AMRAAM, Avenger, Stinger, Cobra, M65, and OH-58 met with representatives of the CCAMTF and the JPPAB. The objective of this meeting was to identify sources of funding available from the program offices and to commit to using these funds to support additional testing requested by the technical representatives of the defense-system program offices. At the meeting, AMRAAM and JSOW representatives committed to funding a portion of the testing costs. Other business representatives committed to sharing this information with their management and also to seeking funds for this effort. All present felt that the funds requested were minimal compared to the benefits that would accrue to the DoD in general and the defense systems affected in particular. On November 13, 97, representatives from AIM-9X, AMRAAM, Avenger, F-15, JSOW, M1 Abrams, Phalanx, PEO TAD, RAM, Sidewinder, Standard Missile, Stinger, Tomahawk and Trident met with representatives from the CCAMTF and the JPPAB. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the efforts necessary to complete the JTP. These efforts included detailing business actions and finalizing the tests necessary for inclusion within the JTP to qualify alternative surface finishes and conformal coating processes. The participants discussed the tests that had been added to the JTP for the October 31 draft as well as candidate tests for deletion. On October 2, 97, representatives from C-17, F-22, HTI, PEO-TADS, F-15 and Javelin held a teleconference with representatives from the CCAMTF and the JPPAB. The objectives of this meeting were to review the status of Action Items from the September 18, 1997 meeting and to discuss the technical content of the tests proposed in the draft JTP, dated September 12, 1997. The participants discussed the tests currently proposed and suggested additional engineering and performance requirements. On September 18, 97, representatives from AMRAAM, C-17, ESSO, F-15, F-16, F-18, Harm, Harpoon, IBAS, ITAS, JASMIN, JASSM, PAM, Phalanx, RAM, Sidewinder, SLAM, SLED, Standard Missile, Stinger and Tomahawk met with representatives from the CCAMTF and the JPPAB. The objectives of this meeting were to discuss the JG-APP Methodology and the purpose and technical content of the tests proposed in the draft JTP dated September 12, 1997. The participants discussed the tests currently proposed and suggested additional engineering and performance requirements for inclusion.
