Identification Marking (LM)
The JTR
documents the testing results. Testing consisted of applying ink and label
alternatives onto bare and coated panels. Nine alternative inks and ten
alternative labels were tested. Alternatives that passed screening tests
underwent extensive testing on several substrates.
Testing was completed in March 2001 with two alternate inks approved
for use on several substrates:
Selection of a label alternative should be made by determining the application (Grade A, B, or C), identifying the substrate and coatings, and considering the label properties (glossy, matte, white, clear, metal, or heat resistance). The following label systems were approved for Grade A applications on at least one substrate:

has implemented thermal transfer labeling alternatives in place of silk
