Wet spray coating - waterborne and solvent-based chromate primers

Corrosion protection for aircraft exterior mold line skins

One nonchromate primer (Dexter 10PW22-2/ECW-119) currently being tested on three F 15s, and a number of T 45 TSs

One nonchromate primer (PRC-DeSoto EWAE 118 A/B) currently being tested on one C 130, one C-17, seven F/A-18's, and select portions of AV-8B and one F-15

Two alternative materials qualified. Navy and NASA have authorized [limited] use of the qualified products.

Implementation is underway at each of NAVAIR's three depots. The Akzo Nobel product has already been flown into space on at least one Shuttle flight.

Air Force continues testing to provide more definitive data to support OEM implementation of nonchrome primer.
