Project Number: S-00-OC-016

Joint Test Protocol

The JTP will document the performance requirements for aluminum pretreatments used for affected weapon systems. A JTP has been prepared, which contains 13 performance-based tests:

    1. Neutral Salt Fog on Unpainted Substrate with Pretreatment
    2. Neutral Salt Fog on Scribed, Painted Substrate
    3. SO2 Salt Fog on Scribed, Painted Substrates
    4. Cyclic Corrosion on Scribed, Painted Substrates
    5. Filiform Corrosion Resistance
    6. Marine Atmospheric Test (Beach Test) Exposure on Scribed, Painted Substrates
    7. In-Service Corrosion
    8. Wet Tape Adhesion and Water Resistance of Painted Substrates
    9. Dry Tape Adhesion of Painted Substrates
    10. In-Service Paint Adhesion Evaluation
    11. Electrical Conductivity of Unpainted, Pretreated Substrates
    12. Toxicology (leveraged with CTC project)
    13. Repairability (coordinated with CTC project).
