Milestones and Prior Decisions:

  • Eliminate or reduce hexavalent chromium use/waste by substituting Skyflex Aircraft Sealants for current polysulfide sealants in the following aircraft applications
    • Access panel fay surfaces
    • Floorboards
    • Windscreens/windshields/canopies
  • Skyflex is a relatively mature technology that can be implemented DoD and NASA wide
  • Navy completed CBA, which shows savings to Navy of $15 million projected over 12 years
  • Tech Order changes to incorporate Skyflex as preferred spare
