Milestones and Prior Decisions:
- Eliminate or reduce hexavalent
chromium use/waste by substituting Skyflex Aircraft Sealants for current
polysulfide sealants in the following aircraft applications
- Access panel fay surfaces
- Floorboards
- Windscreens/windshields/canopies
- Skyflex is a relatively mature technology that can be implemented DoD and NASA wide
- Navy completed CBA, which shows savings to Navy of $15 million projected over 12 years
- Tech Order changes to incorporate Skyflex as preferred spare
