Low/No-VOC
and Nonchromate Coating System for Support Equipment Meeting and Teleconference Summaries The Meeting and Teleconference
Summaries contain basic information about this project and a summary paragraph
from each meeting or teleconference held for this project.
Milestones and Prior Decisions:
Date of last meeting:
October 21, 2003 Meeting and Teleconference Summaries: October 21, 2003 teleconference minutes are awaiting final approval and will be available on the website soon. May 8, 2003 teleconference minutes are awaiting final approval and will be available on the website soon. March 20, 2003, during the teleconference, discussions focused on the possible causes of the yellowing on the Deft Zero VOC panels. The Navy has not been able to run the supplemental tests they agreed to conduct earlier. Another possible culprit is that a bad batch of paint was used for the test. Deft representative, Mr. Anthanasopoulos, will work with the contractors to determine whether this is the case. The next teleconference will be scheduled in May 2003. January 29, 2003, during this teleconference, discussions focused on the possible causes of the yellowing. The Navy is conducting additional laboratory tests to complement this study. Greg Garrett and Kevin Kovaleski, Patuxent River, will make their findings available to this group. Also discussed were the problems occurring from OEMs differing applications of powder coating to support equipment. December 16, 2002, during this teleconference, the 12-month site visits to Brunswick, ME; Cape Canaveral, FL; and Patrick AFB, FL, were discussed. Overall, the two zero-VOC coatings, Coatings 3 and 4, were found to be yellowing and fading. Greg Garrett, Pax River, stated they would get Oasis 136 and Corrosion X to duplicate and evaluate in their lab. If they get same results, they will get the word out to the field to not use them. The Field Evaluation Report will soon be ready for distribution. November 4, 2002, Due to unforeseen circumstances, the chain of custody was lost and the test on the panels on the USS John F. Kennedy was negated. The CTIO is duplicating clean-ability tests to try to determine why some panels from the USS Abraham Lincoln are yellowing. Mike Surratt is scheduling the 12-month site visits during the first week of December. A notice will be sent out for the December teleconference. August 26, 2002, A site visit will be scheduled soon to Mayport, FL, to visit the USS John F. Kennedy. It has just recently returned to port from a deployment. Everyone will be notified of the visit dates to decide if they can accompany the team. All the coatings seem to be holding up good. There is a yellowing problem with Coatings 3 and 4 on the USS Abraham Lincoln. It does not seem to be a show stopper, more rated as an appearance problem. CTIO will follow-up on possible reasons for the change in color. The next teleconference will be scheduled after site visit to the USS Kennedy. July 15, 2002, The teleconference was opened with a request for comments on previous minutes. There were no replies, so the discussion was turned to the Field Evaluation Report. After discussing the status of the test coatings, discussion turned to scheduling of the next survey team visits. The proposed timeframe is November for visits to Maine then to Washington. A notice will be sent out to stakeholders prior to scheduling trips. The teleconference was concluded with a notice the next teleconference will be scheduled in August. April 18, 2002, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1400 ET. She took roll call, checked whether anyone had comments on the minutes of the previous teleconference then went into the review of the 3-month field site photos. No one had any comments on the minutes. A few comments were made on the photos. Discussion followed on dates for visiting the field sites. Tentative dates are 13-21 May 02. Susan closed the teleconference announcing the next teleconference will be set up after the field site visits. March 21, 2002, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1400 ET. She took roll call then informed everyone on line she had only two topics, review the minutes of last teleconference and Mike Surratt's comments on his briefing at the Worldwide Air Force Corrosion Managers Conference at Warner Robins, GA, and the Worldwide Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Flight Chief's Conference at Atlanta, GA, on 6 Mar 02. No one had any comments on the minutes. She then opened the floor to discussion. Mike commented on the Corrosion Managers Conference and the AGE Flight Chief's Conference then commented on the status of the field testing. Tammy Horner spoke about an update to the Joint Test Report. Susan closed the teleconference announcing the next teleconference will be set up late April. February 21, 2002, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1400 ET. She informed everyone on line she had only two topics, discussion of the minutes of last teleconference and open discussion. No one had any comments on the minutes, so she opened the line for other discussions. The other discussions covered schedule of field evaluations, status of left over panels at CTC, and briefings of this project at conferences. Susan closed the teleconference announcing the next teleconference will be set up late March. January 24, 2002, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1405 ET. She informed everyone on line she had only two topics, discussion of the minutes of last teleconference and open discussion. No one had any comments on the minutes, so she opened the line for other discussions. Mike Surratt, SAIC, discussed with Brian Greene and Kurt Kessel, NASA, the add-on NASA-specific heat test. No other discussions were brought up, so Susan closed the teleconference announcing the next teleconference will be set up late February. December 13, 2001, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1400 ET. After roll call, discussions were held on the status of the installed coated panels, the possibility of stakeholders making site visits along with SAIC and A4BE personnel, and Susan closed the teleconference with open discussions. November 15, 2001, Susan Misra, Project Manager, HQ AFMC/A4BE, began the teleconference at 1400 ET.
